Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated National Space Day through a post. He said, “Let's dream bigger. Let's innovate more and cross new boundaries…” After the success of Vikram Lander, Prime Minister Modi during his visit to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) headquarters in Bengaluru had announced that August 23 will be celebrated as 'National Space Day', i.e. August 26, 2023.
On August 23, 2023, India achieved a historic feat by successfully soft landing Chandrayaan-3 near the pole of the Moon. India became the fourth country in the world to land a spacecraft on the Moon and the first country to land near the Moon's South Pole. Vikram Lander also landed Pragyan Rover on the Moon to study the lunar surface. The Prime Minister had said that the results of this historic mission will benefit humanity in the days to come.
ISRO said today, “We invite you to celebrate National Space Day today. Let us reaffirm our commitment to make India a leading space power.”
