The conflict between Iran and America has once again increased. Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed that it has launched ballistic missile attacks on a US military base in Jordan. Iran has said that this action was taken in response to the US attack on Iran's Larak Island.
According to information received from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, two US bases, King Hussein and Al-Azraq, were targeted. Iran has said that drones were also used along with ballistic missiles in this attack. It has claimed to have attacked technical and maintenance facilities belonging to the US military as well as fighter aircraft bases.
Meanwhile, the Jordanian Army has claimed to have shot down eight missiles that entered its airspace with the help of its air defense system. There were no initial reports of any casualties at either US base. Iran's claim of huge losses has not yet been separately confirmed.
Iran has said that the attack was a direct retaliation for the US operation on Larak Island. On Sunday, the US military targeted two Iranian rocket launchers on Lark Island. According to the US, Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps units were preparing rockets to lay sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz. The US said that this operation was done to prevent the threat to commercial shipping. However, Iran condemned the US attack and claimed that Iranian soldiers and civilians were killed and injured in the operation.
