Pm Modi To Inaugurate Semicon India 2026 On September 17

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the fifth edition of 'Semicon India 2026' to be held at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi on September 17. The three-day event from September 17 to 19 will bring together global semiconductor companies, policy makers, investors, researchers, startups and academicians to showcase India's growing capabilities across the semiconductor and electronics value chain.

An official statement issued on Monday said that this conference, based on the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem”, is being organized at a time when India is moving rapidly towards strengthening its role in the global semiconductor supply chain. Government policy support, rising investment and growing demand for diverse and flexible global supply chains have created new opportunities for India.

The event is being jointly organized by India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and global industry body SEMI. SEMI is the leading representative organization of the world's semiconductor, electronics design and manufacturing industry.

More than 600 exhibitors will participate in this year's event, including approximately 300 international companies, the statement said. The exhibition will be organized in an area of 15,000 square meters. In addition, more than 150 experts and industry leaders will discuss a variety of technical and strategic topics.

Along with this, pavilions of 6 countries and pavilions of 12 state governments will be set up in the exhibition. Special platforms will also be created to promote startups, innovation, students, skill development and women's participation in the semiconductor sector.

Around 40 startups will showcase their technology and innovations in the Startup Pavilion. In the Workforce Development Pavilion, special attention will be given to skill development, employment and career opportunities in the microelectronics sector.

This time a major attraction of the event will be “Sand to Silicon to Systems Value Chain Experience”. Through this, visitors will get to experience the entire value chain of the semiconductor industry, showcasing the process from raw materials to manufacturing, advanced packaging, chip design, electronics and final system fabrication.

Startup pitch competitions, student hackathons and innovation showcases will also be organized during the event, where young entrepreneurs, researchers and students can present their ideas and technologies.

The conference will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions and special sessions on topics such as semiconductor manufacturing, artificial intelligence (AI), supply chain resilience, advanced packaging, materials and devices, chip design, R&D, startups, innovation and talent development.

Apart from this, there will also be special roundtable meetings with six international countries. Special discussions will also be held on women's leadership and empowerment, workforce development and enhancing cooperation in the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sector.
