Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Monday expressed concern over the indecency case with a student in Jamui, Bihar and said that it is very unsettling. He said that when 'blind devotees' consider control as culture and normalize such thinking, then the crowd starts thinking that it is the law.
Congress MP Rahul Gandhi wrote on the social media platform
They were tortured, humiliated and harassed the student. The girl kept pleading with folded hands to let him go, but the goons kept touching and pulling her inappropriately.”
He asked who gave these people the right to indulge in such misbehavior? Also, Rahul Gandhi wrote in the post, “This is not 'culture', this is patriarchy: the idea that any man has control over a girl's body, her comings and goings and her likes and dislikes. When 'blind devotees' normalize such thinking by considering control as culture, then the crowd starts feeling that it is the law.”
Rahul Gandhi demanded that every person seen in the video should be identified and those criminals should be prosecuted under POCSO and punished as soon as possible.
He again raised the question and said that if this incident happened on September 19, then why are the culprits not behind the bars yet? Bihar government should answer why no girl is safe on the roads of the state at 7 pm?
On the other hand, Jamui SP Vishwajit Dayal said that the incident took place on September 19 and an FIR has been registered in this regard. He said that the police is investigating. Soon all the accused will be arrested.
According to the information, both the minors are students of class 10th and are residents of Jamui city. After coaching on Saturday, both of them had gone to visit Madwa mountain on scooty. While returning, some youths stopped him on the road. After this he was allegedly misbehaved. During this time someone made a video of the entire incident. This matter came to light after the video went viral.
