Nirmal Kumar, minister in the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) government, has accused the DMK and AIADMK of hatching a strategy together to divide votes in the upcoming assembly by-elections. He claimed that both the parties were initially planning to field a common candidate, but later decided to field separate candidates with the aim of dividing the votes.
Speaking to reporters, Nirmal Kumar said that DMK and AIADMK are jointly running a campaign against TVK candidates. However, he did not present any evidence to support his allegation.
The minister also alleged that the protests against TVK candidates during the election campaign were being organized not by common voters but by the DMK and AIADMK. He said that both the parties are sending people to public meetings and raising slogans against TVK candidates.
Referring to the resignations of AIADMK MLAs, Nirmal Kumar claimed that he had resigned from party leader Edappadi K. Resigned in disagreement with Palaniswami's attitude. He alleged that the AIADMK has decided to work together with the DMK and the resigned MLAs have done no wrong.
Speaking on the ongoing Kumbhabhishek (consecration) works at a temple in Madurai, the Minister said that the members of the temple's trust board performed their responsibilities completely independently. He denied that his decisions were taken on the instructions of any political leader.
Nirmal Kumar also raised questions on DMK regarding former Finance Minister Palanivel Tyaga Rajan (PTR). He said that if PTR had done good work as Finance Minister, then why did DMK remove him from the Finance Department?
At present there is no reaction from DMK and AIADMK on these allegations of TVK Minister.
