Voting will be held in Nandigram-Rejinagar on Tuesday in Bengal by-election!

Voting will be held on Tuesday amid tight security for the by-elections to Nandigram assembly seat in East Midnapore district of West Bengal and Rezinagar assembly seat in Murshidabad district. 71 companies of security forces will be deployed for the by-elections to be held on two assembly seats. 37 companies of security forces will be deployed in Nandigram and 34 companies in Rejinagar. Besides this, 15,119 state police personnel will be deployed.

Considering the extensive security arrangements, it can be estimated that 24 percent of the total booths on these two seats are sensitive booths. There are 323 sensitive booths in Nandigram and 315 in Rejinagar.

“Central force personnel will be deployed at all polling stations and quick response teams. There will also be 100 per cent web-casting at all polling stations in these two seats,” an official from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer said.

Let us tell you that votes for the by-election will be cast on Tuesday and the results will be declared on October 9. There is going to be an all-round contest on Nandigram assembly seat between BJP, Congress, Ritabrata Banerjee led Democratic Trinamool Congress and CPI.

BJP candidate from Nandigram is Hasirani Rath. She is the mother of late Chandranath Rath. Chandranath Rath was the personal assistant to Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. He was murdered on May 6 in Madhyamgram in North 24 Parganas district.

All India Trinamool Congress led by former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is not contesting elections in Nandigram this time. His candidate Sanchita Pradhan Dey had withdrawn her nomination at the last moment.

In the assembly elections, AJUP candidate Humayun Kabir had won both Nouda and Rezinagar assembly seats of Murshidabad district. Later, he decided to retain the Nauda seat, due to which by-election is now being held on Rejinagar assembly seat.
