Pakistan lost to Sri Lanka, but Sahibzada Farhan created history

Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan created a new record for the most runs scored in a three-match bilateral men's T20I series between two 'Full Member' nations. Despite his team's eight-wicket defeat to Sri Lanka in the third and final match in Rawalpindi, he managed to score 238 runs in the series.

Farhan scored his third consecutive half century (76 runs off 47 balls) taking his total in the series to 238 runs, breaking the record of India's Abhishek Sharma. Sharma had scored 229 runs against Afghanistan earlier this year. New Zealand's Colin Munro (223 runs against West Indies in the 2023-24 series) is at third place in this list. Australia's David Warner (217 against Sri Lanka in 2019) and Afghanistan's Hazratullah Zazai (204 against Ireland in 2019) are next in the list.

At the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Sri Lanka chased down Pakistan's target of 168/8 with 17 balls to spare. Kusal Mendis played an important role in the team's victory by playing a brilliant inning of 87 runs on 47 balls. He was named 'Man of the Match' for his innings.

However, this defeat had no impact on Pakistan's series result, as the host team had already clinched the series with emphatic wins in the first two matches. Pakistan won the first T20I on 9 October by four wickets and the second on 11 October by 82 runs; After this Sri Lanka won the final match by eight wickets.
