In the film, Manoj Bajpayee will be seen in the role of a police officer who gets confused between his personal gains and doing the right thing.
Manoj Bajpayee said about the film, “My journey with Netflix has been very good and 'Gajab Raat' is another special project of this association. I always like such characters who cannot be easily put into any one category of right or wrong. In this film, I got the opportunity to work in a different world amidst suspense, moral dilemmas and questions related to accountability.”
Manoj said, “The special thing about the film is that as the night progresses in the story, the intentions of the characters are also gradually revealed. It was a great experience to work with filmmaker Neeraj Pandey again after such a long time. It was also interesting to see Ritesh Shah working from writer to director. The audience will get a chance to know and understand a lot in 'Gajab Raat'.”
The film is produced by Neeraj Pandey's production house Friday Filmworks, while directed by Ritesh Shah. Apart from Manoj Bajpayee, Saqib Saleem, Akshay Oberoi, Divya Dutta, Kiku Sharda and Nusrat Bharucha will also be seen in important roles in the film.
Neeraj Pandey said, “For me, a good story does not just make the audience think about what will happen next, but the story should also be such that it makes people think after watching. In 'Gajab Raat', the decisions of the characters take them to a situation where there are no easy answers to any question. The moral conflicts of the characters along with the events that happen during a single night in the film also take the story forward.”
Director Ritesh Shah said, “I like thriller stories that hook the audience from the beginning and keep them wondering what will happen next at every turn. Taking the story forward in a single night gave the film a chance to create a sense of tension and urgency.”
Let us tell you that the film was earlier named 'Ghooskhor Pandit'. After the teaser was released on February 3, objections were raised regarding its title and the matter reached the Supreme Court. On February 12, the Supreme Court had raised questions on the name of the film and said that freedom of expression cannot be used to humiliate any section of the society. Now the name of the film has been changed to 'Gajab Raat'. This film will be released on Netflix on October 23.
