2 DCU TV Shows Get Exciting Updates From James Gunn

2026 marks a big year for the DC Universewith three projects set to be released. A lot is also happening behind-the-scenes, with DC Studios head James Gunn having recently offered a major update on two highly anticipated DCU series.

In January 2023, DC Studios unveiled the debut slate for the DCU, revealing the first five television series for Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters: Creature Commandos, Lanterns, Waller, Booster Goldand Paradise Lost. Three years later, fans have now received a promising update on the latter two shows.

What did James Gunn say about the upcoming DCU TV shows?

Responding to a fan’s concerns about Booster Gold and Paradise Lost being canceled, Gunn wrote on Threads“[Booster Gold] is in development,” while adding that “[Paradise Lost] is in extreme development.”

Gunn’s confirmation that Booster Gold is still in development comes roughly one month after David Jenkins debunked rumors that he had departed the project. “As far as I know it’s still in the pipeline,” Jenkins stated last month on Threads, which has seemingly become the go-to destination for DCU updates.

Jenkins was tapped to write the pilot and serve as showrunner on Booster Gold in July 2025. After he allegedly deleted some social media posts related to Booster Gold, fans began to speculate that Jenkins was no longer attached to the project.

Booster Gold was created by writer-artist Dan Jurgens. The character is a disgraced college football star from the year 2442 who steals time-traveling technology and journeys back to modern day in search of fame and fortune by staging various heroics as the superhero Booster Gold.

As for Paradise Lost, Gunn’s wording of the show being in “extreme development” suggests that a lot of work has been going on behind-the-scenes for the show that hasn’t been reported yet by the trades.

With a Wonder Woman movie confirmed to be in the works, and Adria Arjona possibly cast as the Princess of Themyscira (instead of Maxima) in Man of Tomorrow, it’s clear that Gunn has big plans for the character and her expanded universe in the DCU.

There are no release windows yet for Booster Gold and Paradise Lost, although both are expected to air on HBO Max.
