Upcoming 7-Seater SUVs 2026: The popularity of larger and premium 7-seater SUVs is steadily increasing in India. Customers purchasing such family cars are now prioritizing SUVs with more space, advanced features, and multiple powertrain options. In response to this growing demand, companies like Tata Motors, Mahindra, Kia, and JSW MG Motor India are preparing to launch new 7-seater SUVs in 2026. These new models are expected to include petrol, diesel, electric, and hybrid powertrain options.
MG Hector Hawk: A New Entry in the Electric Segment
JSW MG Motor India is expected to launch its new electric SUV, the MG Hector Hawk, around August 2026. It will be based on the company’s new ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology) platform, which has been developed for various powertrains. Reports suggest that its design may be inspired by the Wuling Eksion sold in Indonesia.
This SUV is expected to feature a 69kWh battery pack and an electric motor producing approximately 210bhp. A plug-in hybrid version could also be introduced in the future, with a launch expected around Diwali 2026.
Mahindra Scorpio N Facelift to Get a New Look
Mahindra is another name on the list, which may also introduce a facelift of its popular Scorpio N in 2026. This update is unlikely to feature major mechanical changes, but the exterior will receive a refresh. A new front grille, updated bumpers, new headlamps, fog lamps, and new alloy wheels could make it more distinctive than before. It appears that engine options are currently unchanged. The existing 2.0-liter turbo petrol and 2.2-liter diesel engines are expected to remain.
Competition will increase with the Tata Safari EV and Kia Sorento.
Tata Motors is the third name on the list, which is also preparing to launch an electric version of its popular Safari. The Safari EV is expected to share the same powertrain as the Harrier EV and have a potential driving range of over 500 kilometers. It is expected to feature a closed front grille, new alloy wheels, EV badging, and Tata’s TiDAL software platform, which will include features like advanced connectivity and ADAS.
The Kia Sorento is the fourth name on this list, which could become the company’s first hybrid SUV in India. It is expected to be launched by October 2026. It could be powered by a 1.6-liter Turbo GDI Strong Hybrid petrol engine and a 2.2-liter CRDi diesel engine.
