Chhattisgarh News: A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at the Mantralaya (Mahanadi Bhawan) on August 5, 2026, approved several important decisions related to the state’s digital development, industrial investment, infrastructure, good governance, and economic progress. These decisions aim to advance Chhattisgarh in the fields of technology, industry, and improved governance.
AI mission worth Rs 500 crore approved
The cabinet approved the Chhattisgarh State Artificial Intelligence (AI) Mission , with a five-year budget of ₹500 crore . Under this initiative, 100 AI data labs will be established in the state, five centers of excellence will be created, and more than 300 AI startups will be supported. Six hundred thousand students and 150,000 government employees will be trained in AI. More than 50 government services will be made AI-enabled, making administration faster, more transparent, and more effective.
BEML to set up heavy machinery manufacturing plant
The Cabinet has decided to allocate land at a concessional rate to Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML). This will be the state’s first heavy earthmoving equipment manufacturing plant. This will generate significant investment, generate employment for local youth, and benefit micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). This is expected to establish Chhattisgarh as an emerging manufacturing hub in the country.
Digital monitoring of construction works will be done
The first phase of the Works and Accounts Management Information System (WAMIS) has been approved in the Public Works Department . This digital system will make project approvals, estimates, e-tenders, measurement books, bill payments, accounting management, and quality monitoring completely online. This will increase transparency and simplify project monitoring.
Changes in rural road rules
The guidelines for the Chief Minister’s Village Road and Development Scheme have been amended. It will no longer be mandatory to perform earthwork under MNREGA before road construction. Concrete roads and drains can also be constructed in internal village streets. Furthermore, all rural roads not covered by the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana or other schemes will be included in the scheme. Project funding will be available from NABARD, DMF, and other sources.
ADB grant project worth Rs 15 crore
The Cabinet approved a grant of ₹150 million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the Anjor Light Project. This three-year project will be entirely grant-based, with no financial contribution from the state or central government. Its objective is to strengthen public financial management, PPP models, green finance, the capacity of public enterprises, and climate-resilient projects.
New financial model in government schemes
The state government has decided to implement the State Single Nodal Agency (S-SNA) model for state-funded schemes . Under this model, government funds will no longer remain idle in separate accounts, but will be released directly to beneficiaries or vendors as needed from a central account. This will increase transparency, strengthen financial discipline, and ensure better use of government funds.
Boosting investment in the power sector
The Cabinet approved the issuance of Non-Convertible Debentures (NCDs)/Bonds worth up to ₹200 crore by Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) and listing them on the stock exchange. The State Government will provide guarantees and guarantee fees will be waived. This will increase investment in the energy sector and accelerate the development of power infrastructure.
It is clear from all these decisions that the Chhattisgarh government is moving rapidly towards preparing the state for the future through technology, industry, better administration, rural development and financial reforms.
