Automobile Desk: British premium bike manufacturer Triumph has introduced the 2027 variant of its popular adventure bike Tiger 1200 in the global market. The company has given major updates to this flagship model on both mechanical and technological fronts. This model, designed keeping in mind new safety features, more powerful engine and rider comfort, is set to be launched in the Indian auto market by March 2027. In India, it will be launched in two major trims – GT Pro and Rally Explorer.
Strong performance and smooth gearbox
The new Triumph Tiger 1200 has a 1,200cc T-Plane triple-cylinder engine. The company has made many important changes in its cylinder head, piston, valve and fuel injection setup. Due to these changes, this engine now generates maximum power of 158 PS (about 156 bhp) at 9,250 rpm, which is 8 PS more than the current generation. Along with increasing the power, the gearbox and shaft drive system have also been tuned, making low-speed riding extremely smooth. Controlling the bike in heavy traffic or on narrow roads will now be easier than before, as its creeping speed has been reduced by about 6 kmph.
Automatic height adjustment and suspension
To improve riding comfort, it has been provided with Showa EERA Heightflex semi-active suspension, in which the rider can choose firm, medium and soft setup as per his choice. The most special aspect of this bike is its automatic ride-height feature. As soon as the bike stops, the seat height automatically lowers by 30 mm and returns to its original position once it picks up speed. With the optional low-seat, the minimum seat height comes down to 790 mm. Apart from this, the center stand assist feature makes it very easy to park heavy bikes on the stand.
Talking about wheel and braking setup, both variants have 19-inch wheels at the front and 17-inch wheels at the rear, whose suspension travel is 200 mm. The GT Pro gets cast aluminum wheels, while the off-roading focused Rally Explorer gets spoke wheels. Brembo Stylema callipers have been used for braking.
Advanced radar technology and modern features
In terms of safety, the new Tiger 1200 has been equipped with Bosch's front and rear radar system. With its help, the bike gets features like adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, emergency brake assist and blind-spot monitoring. Safety nets like Group Ride Assist and Cornering ABS have been provided for those riding in a group.
The cockpit gets a 7-inch HD touchscreen display, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The bike also has a cooling compartment and Type-C charging port for smartphones. Apart from this, cornering adaptive LED headlights have been provided for night riding. For long-haul travellers, the GT Pro gets a 20-litre fuel tank and the Rally Explorer gets a 30-litre fuel tank. Both models feature redesigned comfortable seats, heated seats and three-level adjustable heated grips.
