New Delhi, 30 June. 23 political parties of the country and an independent MP have written a joint letter to Chief Justice (CJI) Surya Kant on Tuesday. Through this letter, the opposition parties have raised the SIR process, role of the Election Commission (ECI) and other election related issues. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh shared this information through a post on X.
Jairam Ramesh said that the opposition parties stand firmly on the principles of solidarity, unity and resistance. He said, ’21 political parties and one independent MP participated in the meeting of the opposition alliance INDIA held on June 8, 2026, in which it was decided to send a joint letter to the Chief Justice of India on the SIR process of the Election Commission and other election related issues. Under this, a joint letter signed by 23 political parties and an independent MP has been sent to the Chief Justice of India today.
The meeting of INDIA Janbandhan on June 8, 2026 was attended by 21 political parties and one independent member, in which it was decided to send a joint letter to the Honorable Chief Justice of India on the SIR process of the Election Commission of India and other issues related to elections.

Responding to this post of Jairam Ramesh, Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien claimed that the letter has also been signed by the Aam Aadmi Party and DMK. However, these parties have not yet given any reaction on this. Both these parties did not attend the meeting of Indi alliance on June 8.
