Vadodara, 30 June. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has said that participation of regional industries is very important in the goal of making India a developed nation. Addressing the industrialists, entrepreneurs, young innovators and academicians at the ‘Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference’ held here, he said that ‘Developed India’ is not just the goal of economic progress but a resolve to build an economically strong, technologically capable and socially empowered nation. For this, it is necessary to convert regional capabilities into national strengths and bring local innovations to global competition.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy and Panchayati Raj Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh and Gujarat Government’s Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Manisha were also present in the ‘Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference’ program.

Rajnath Singh said that India’s role in the rapidly changing global political and economic scenario will be determined by its self-reliance, technological capability and collective resolve. Great nations stand on three key pillars: economic strength, technological capability and national security. He said that a strong economy and technological development strengthen the country’s security, while a safe environment is essential for the development of industry and innovation.

Development of defense sector is not limited only to weapons and military technology.

He said that the development of defense sector is not limited to weapons and military technology only, but it gives impetus to the larger industrial ecosystem. The country’s industrial capacity is being strengthened through defense corridors, better infrastructure, logistics, employment and research and development (R&D).

India is progressing rapidly in the field of defense production and export.

The Defense Minister said that there has been a big change in the defense sector in the last decade. India, once dependent on imports for its defense needs, is now growing rapidly in the field of defense production and exports. Indigenous platforms, private sector participation and contribution from startups have created a strong defense ecosystem in the country.

Rajnath Singh said that under the Self-reliant India campaign, domestic capabilities are being promoted in strategic areas like aerospace and defence. He said that small industries and startups are being encouraged through Make in India, reform in defense procurement process, Technology Development Fund, IDEX, Srijan Portal and other initiatives.

He clarified that self-reliance does not mean separation from the world. This means that India should be strong on its own capabilities and cooperate with global partners on an equal basis. He said that the government is promoting technology transfer, joint ventures and cooperation with foreign companies.

Gujarat can become a big center of defense production and technological development

Praising Gujarat’s industrial potential, Rajnath Singh said that the state can become a major center of defense production and technological development. He mentioned Tata-Airbus’ C-295 transport aircraft manufacturing facility in Vadodara and the K-9 Vajra self-propelled gun system being developed in Gujarat. He said that the semiconductor ecosystem developing in Sanand and Dholera will become the foundation of India’s technological self-reliance. Gujarat’s role will be important in areas like Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Cyber ​​Security and Space Technology.

The state has full potential to become a defense manufacturing center

Rajnath Singh said that Gujarat’s strong chemical, petrochemical, electronics, port and shipbuilding sectors can give a new direction to the defense industry. He said that the state has full potential to become a defense manufacturing hub and the youth and entrepreneurs of Gujarat can make an important contribution in this.

During the programme, the Defense Minister interacted with representatives and academicians from the defense and aerospace industry. He appreciated the efforts of private industries, MSMEs and startups and reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening defense manufacturing.
