Tezzbuzz Desk- The Ghaziabad branch office of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has taken major enforcement action against a unit in North-East Delhi's Mandoli area. Search and seizure action taken at the concerned unit located in Mandoli Section 28 of BIS Act, 2016 Done under. Based on the information received by BIS, officials reached the spot and investigated the concerned premises. The enforcement team examined the aluminum foil related products present there and seized around 2,350 rolls. Now further action will be taken on the basis of investigation of the seized material and related documents.
Quality Control Order was implemented in 2020
According to BIS, for products related to aluminum foil Quality Control Order (QCO) Was notified in the year 2020. Under this, it is necessary to manufacture the related products as per the prescribed Indian standards. Valid for products covered under QCO BIS License and ISI Mark It is mandatory to have. That means, no concerned industry can manufacture such products without a valid BIS license and necessary certification. BIS says that ensuring compliance with standards is important for the safety of consumers and the quality of products.
Team of officers raided
The enforcement action was led by Shailendra Kumar Verma, Scientist-C & Deputy Director and Raj Kumar, Scientist-B & Assistant Director. Other officers and employees of BIS Ghaziabad branch office were also present along with him. The team conducted a search operation in the concerned unit and seized rolls of aluminum foil from the spot. According to BIS, the seized material has been kept safe so that its quality, certification and manufacturing aspects can be examined during the investigation.
Legal action will be taken against the firm
Senior officer of BIS Ghaziabad branch office G. Bhavani, Scientist-F and Senior Director and Head informed that necessary action will be taken against the concerned firm under the provisions of BIS Act, 2016. According to officials, based on the facts revealed during the action and the material seized, it will be decided whether the concerned entity has violated the rules related to mandatory certification or not.
Appeal to consumers to check BIS mark
The Bureau of Indian Standards has appealed to consumers and industries to check the authenticity and validity of the BIS license while purchasing products covered under mandatory certification. BIS has also said that Misuse of BIS standards or ISI mark On receipt of complaint related to BIS, its information can be given through BIS CARE App, related e-mail or Ghaziabad branch office. It has also been said that the identity of the complainant will be kept confidential.
At present, around 2,350 aluminum foil rolls seized from the concerned unit of Mandoli are under investigation. BIS has said that further legal process will continue under the rules applicable in the case.
