Electric SUVs: Tata Motors will launch 3 electric cars in 2026, special attention on Sierra and Safari EV
Electric SUVs: The demand for electric cars of Tata Motors is increasing rapidly, the effect of which is clearly visible on its sales. Tata Motors recorded total sales of 78,811 electric vehicles in FY 2026, which was about 35.9 percent more than the previous financial year. Nexon EV and Punch EV were the biggest contributors to this spectacular performance. Now the company is preparing to further strengthen the EV lineup. Tata Motors will launch three new electric SUVs in 2026, including Tata Sierra EV, Tata Safari EV and Tata Avinya EV. These three models are likely to be launched in the Indian market by 2026.
Powerful features will be available in Tata Sierra EV
Tata Sierra EV will be based on the company’s new Acti.ev+ platform. This SUV can come in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. It is believed that it will be provided with integrated drive unit technology like Punch EV. Sierra EV is expected to get 65kWh and 75kWh battery packs. Along with this, modern facilities like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) can also be provided in it. In terms of design, this SUV will present modern electric styling with a glimpse of the old Sierra model.
Tata’s new 7-seater electric SUV
Tata Safari EV is likely to be launched around Diwali 2026. It will be a 7-seater electric SUV, which can use the same 65kWh and 75kWh battery packs as the Harrier EV. According to reports, a MIDC certified range of up to 538 kilometers can be found with the 65kWh battery pack. Whereas the dual motor AWD version with 75kWh battery can be capable of giving a range of about 627 kilometers. After its launch in the Indian market, it will compete with premium electric SUVs like Mahindra XEV 9e.
Premium electric Tata Avinya EV will be introduced
Tata Avinya EV will be the first electric car to come under the company’s new premium EV sub-brand “Avinya”. This will be a 5-seater Sportback model, which can be launched by the end of 2026. Ultrafast charging, advanced ADAS technology, premium interior and many high-tech features can be seen in this electric car. The company is considering this as a major part of its future premium electric mobility.
Competition will increase in EV market
Through these new electric SUVs, Tata Motors wants to further strengthen its position in the Indian EV market. Competition in the electric SUV segment is expected to intensify in the coming years due to long range, advanced technology and premium features.
