4 Family Scooters Launching Soon

India is one of the largest two-wheeler markets in the world, and over the decades, the market for scooters and motorcycles has grown significantly. Many manufacturers have started offering family-oriented scooters as there is strong demand for them. Here is a list of four such family scooters that are expected to be launched in the Indian market this year.

Ather has been working on its new family electric scooter based on the new EL platform. The scooter will debut on August 29 this year. It is designed as a family scooter and is also expected to be the most affordable scooter from Ather.

It gets a rounded design that is commonly seen on scooters in this segment. The new platform is versatile and can also be used for Ather’s future products. Ather has confirmed that it will unveil a range of innovations across charging, software, and the wider ownership ecosystem at the launch event. The new EL platform will support battery packs ranging from 2 kWh to 5 kWh. However, the EL01 is expected to be offered with battery options ranging from 2 kWh to 4 kWh. The scooter is expected to offer a riding range of around 100–160 km.

Simple Energy has also been working on a family-oriented electric scooter for quite some time. The scooter has been spotted testing multiple times and is likely to be called the Arrive. This electric scooter will compete with the likes of the Ather Rizta and the Bajaj Chetak.

Simple Energy plans to launch the scooter on September 2 this year. The test mule has been spotted with alloy wheels, a front disc brake, a flat single-piece seat, twin rear shock absorbers, a centre stand, a TFT display, a handlebar-mounted headlamp, LED tail lamps, and more. Exact details related to the battery pack and power output are not available at the moment.

VinFast is planning to enter the electric scooter segment, and it appears that the company has filed a design patent for the Viper scooter as part of those plans. The scooter is expected to be launched later this year.

It features the familiar large-wheel, Asian-style scooter design but with sportier styling elements, including a wide front apron and a sleek LED headlamp setup.

The version sold in the Indonesian market is offered with two battery-pack options. There is a 3 kWh battery pack consisting of two 1.5 kWh battery units, along with a smaller variant featuring a single 1.5 kWh battery pack. The smaller battery offers a claimed riding range of 82 km, while the larger 3 kWh version delivers a claimed range of 145 km. The scooter is capable of reaching a top speed of 70–90 km/h.

honda activa 110 25th anniversary edition

The Honda Activa is probably one of the most popular scooters in India. Honda is currently working on the Activa 7G, which is expected to be launched later this year. It will succeed the current Activa 6G 110, and in terms of design, Honda is expected to retain the existing styling while introducing a few minor updates.

We could see chrome inserts and a few cosmetic changes to give the scooter a fresh look without losing its familiar identity. It is expected to be offered with features such as an external fuel filler lid, a silent starter, an engine start/stop switch, under-seat storage, and more. The scooter is expected to continue using the same 109cc engine, which produces 7.6 bhp and 8.8 Nm of torque.
