Sedans are slowly fading away from the Indian market as SUVs and crossovers have become the preferred choice for many buyers. However, if you are someone who prioritises a comfortable ride quality, a sedan is still worth considering. Some brands understand this, and that is probably why they continue to offer sedans with frequent updates despite the shrinking demand. Here is a list of six such sedans that are coming to our market soon.
Tigor Facelift
Tata recently launched the Tiago facelift, and in the coming months, we are also expected to see the updated Tigor hit the market. Patent images of the sedan have already surfaced, giving us a good idea of its design.
The Tigor facelift is expected to receive a front fascia similar to the updated Tiago, including a new set of sleek headlamps and a closed-off grille with the Tata logo. The coupe-like profile will be retained, but we expect to see a revised rear end featuring updated tail lamps connected by an LED light bar. The alloy wheels are also expected to be new, while the cabin is likely to receive the same updates as the facelifted Tiago.
The sedan will be offered with the same 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 85 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. This engine is available with manual and AMT options, and the CNG variant will also be offered with both manual and AMT transmissions.
Tigor EV Facelift
Tata is working on the Tigor EV facelift. The electric sedan is likely to receive revised headlamps, a redesigned grille, and a new front bumper similar to the Tiago EV. At the rear, it is expected to get redesigned tail lamps connected by a reflector bar. The Tigor EV is also likely to continue with the same battery pack options as the updated Tiago EV.
Skoda has started accepting bookings for the Slavia facelift, but the company is yet to announce its prices. The sedan comes with several cosmetic changes, including a revised front grille, LED DRLs, tweaked headlamps, a revised bumper, new alloy wheels, and updated tail lamps.
The sedan also comes with a host of new features, such as a rear-seat massager, updated touchscreen infotainment system, a large 10.24-inch driver display, automatic climate control, an electric sunroof, seat ventilation, and more. The sedan continues to use the same 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI engine options. The 1.0-litre engine gets a 6-speed manual and a new 8-speed automatic transmission, while the 1.5-litre TSI gets a 7-speed DSG only.
Soon after the Slavia, Volkswagen will also be launching the updated Virtus in the market. The sedan will also receive a bunch of cosmetic changes and feature additions similar to the Slavia. The front fascia will be revised, and we expect it to come with a connected LED bar and an illuminated VW logo.
The sedan might skip the rear-seat massager function offered in the Slavia, while most of the other features are likely to remain the same. The sedan will also get the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with the new 8-speed automatic transmission and a manual option, while the 1.5-litre TSI engine will continue to be paired with a 7-speed DSG in the GT variant.
Skoda is bringing the second batch of the Octavia vRS to India, and this time, only 50 units of the sedan will be offered. Bookings for the performance sedan have already begun.
The Octavia RS is not just a performance sedan. It comes loaded with premium features such as an electric sunroof, a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12-speaker Canton audio system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a gesture-controlled powered tailgate, and more.
This practical four-door sedan is powered by a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 265 hp and 370 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission that sends power to the front wheels.
Skoda will be bringing the Superb diesel to India by the second quarter of 2027. It will be offered as a CBU and brought to India in limited numbers. Skoda is currently aiming to launch the sedan at a competitive price.
The Superb will be offered in the L&K variant only, and it will come with LED Matrix headlamps, integrated LED DRLs, a wide signature front grille with a silver or brushed-aluminium outline, 18-inch machine-cut alloy wheels, Cognac leather interior trims, front seats with electric adjustment, memory function, seat ventilation, massaging and heating functions.
It will also get a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a Canton sound system, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, 10 airbags, a host of other safety features, and progressive dynamic steering.
The Superb will be offered with FWD and powered by a 2.0-litre TDI engine generating 147 PS and 360 Nm of peak torque. The sedan will be paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission as standard.
