The Railways has decided to operate 60 special trains for the convenience of candidates and passengers in view of the RRB examinations. These trains will run on the Rourkela-Ramgarh Cantt and Ranchi-Sabour routes from August 3 to August 22, 2026.
Ranchi: In view of the increased passenger rush during the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) examinations, the Railways has announced the operation of two pairs of special trains. These trains, running from August 3 to August 22, 2026, will provide travel convenience to both candidates and other passengers.
Railways Run Special Trains for RRB Exams
To manage the extra rush during the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) examinations and provide smooth travel to candidates, the Railways has decided to operate two pairs of special trains. These trains, with a total of 60 trips, will run on the Rourkela-Ramgarh Cantt and Ranchi-Sabour routes from August 3 to August 22, 2026. The Railways’ aim is to provide relief to candidates and other passengers traveling to the examination centers.
Rourkela-Ramgarh Cantt Special Train Schedule
Train number 08183 Rourkela-Ramgarh Cantt Exam Special will run 15 trips from August 3 to 6, August 9 to 14, and August 17 to 21. The train will depart from Rourkela at 8:30 pm and arrive at Ramgarh Cantt at 2:15 am via Bano, Hatia, Ranchi, and Muri.
The 08184 Ramgarh Cantt-Rourkela Exam Special will run 15 trips from August 4 to 7, August 10 to 15, and August 18 to 22. The train will depart from Ramgarh Cantt at 5:15 am and arrive at Rourkela at 11:30 am via Muri, Ranchi, Hatia, and Bano. The train will have a total of 18 coaches, including two SLRD, two general class, and 14 sleeper coaches.
Ranchi-Sabour Special Train Will Also Operate
Railway has announced the operation of an examination special train between Ranchi and Sabour. Train number 08601 Ranchi-Sabour Exam Special will run a total of 15 trips from August 3 to 6, August 9 to 14, and August 17 to 21. This train will depart from Ranchi at 7:00 pm and reach Sabour at 8:00 am via Barkakana, Hazaribagh Town, Koderma, Tilaiya, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Kiul, Jamalpur, Sultanganj, and Bhagalpur.
Similarly, the 08602 Sabour-Ranchi Exam Special will run a total of 15 trips from August 4 to 7, August 10 to 15, and August 18 to 22. This train will depart from Sabour at 9:50 am and reach Ranchi at 10:45 pm via Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, Kiul, Nawada, Koderma, Hazaribagh Town, and Barkakana. This train will have a total of 14 coaches, including two SLRD, two general class, and 10 sleeper coaches.
Major Relief for Candidates
During the RRB exams, millions of candidates travel to various cities, significantly increasing the crowds on regular trains. In such a situation, the operation of special trains by the Railways is considered a major relief for the candidates. This will facilitate the candidates in reaching the examination center on time and will also reduce the pressure of extra crowds on ordinary passengers.
The Railways has appealed to passengers to check train timings and operational information through official channels before traveling. They should also reach the station on time and travel accordingly to avoid any inconvenience.
