6,6,6,6… Mitchell Marsh misbehaves with Anshul Kamboj, CSK’s hopes dashed!
Mitchell Marsh struck a chord against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday (May 15). Marsh batted brilliantly in the chase of 188 runs and hit 2 fours in the very first over. After this, Marsh took Anshul Kamboj on the radar in the fifth over and hit 4 sixes in a row. The fifth ball was a dot. Marsh hit a four on the last ball and scored 28 runs in the over.
Marsh targeted Spencer Johnson in the last over of the powerplay and hit two consecutive fours and completed his fifty in 21 balls. Marsh then hit a six and took LSG to the score of 86 by the end of the powerplay. Josh Inglis was struggling at the other end but Marsh put CSK on the backfoot by hitting big shots at regular intervals.

Marsh missed the century
Marsh had reached 90 runs in 38 balls. He looked to complete his century with ease but unfortunately was run out. Nicholas Pooran, who came to the crease after the dismissal of Josh Inglis, drove Mukesh Chaudhary’s ball straight, which touched the bowler’s fingers and hit the stumps. Marsh was found outside the crease. He had to go out and thus missed his third IPL century. Marsh hit 9 fours and 7 sixes in his innings.

Marsh increased CSK’s troubles
When Marsh was out, LSG needed only 53 runs from 49 balls. Nicholas Puran played an unbeaten inning of 32 runs in 17 balls, taking the team to the target with 20 balls remaining. Puran ended the match quickly by hitting Kamboj for 4 consecutive sixes. This was the fourth win for LSG, which was out of the playoff race. Whereas CSK lost its sixth match of this season. After the big defeat at the hands of LSG, now their path to playoffs has become difficult. To finish in the top-4, CSK will not only have to win both its remaining matches, but will also have to pray that the results of other teams also go in its favour.
