Actor Kartik Aaryan has described his National Award for Best Actor as a deeply emotional milestone in his career, saying he would like to share the honor with every Paralympian in the country and everyone who dares to pursue seemingly impossible dreams.
Kartik took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a video from the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony, where President Droupadi Murmu presented him with the Best Actor honour.
In a lengthy note accompanying the video, the actor reflected on his journey from Gwalior to becoming a National Award recipient, recalling the determination and perseverance that kept him pursuing his ambition of becoming an actor.
Looking back at his journey, Kartik recalled being a “mumma's boy from Gwalior” who dared to dream of becoming an actor despite coming from an environment where such ambitions were often laughed at.
He described receiving the National Award as a moment he had dreamed of since the beginning of his acting journey and wrote, “Chandu Nahi, Champiyon hai Main.”
Kartik won the honor for his performance as India's first Paralympic gold medalist Murlikant Petkar in the sports biopic. Chandu Champion. He shared the Best Actor award with Malayalam cinema veteran Mammootty.
The actor expressed gratitude to director Kabir Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala for entrusting him with the role of Petkar.
He described the journey of making the film and reaching the National Award as extremely challenging, but said the result had made the struggle worthwhile.
Reflecting on the people who supported him, Kartik credited his self-belief, his parents' blessings and unconditional support, his friends who encouraged him during difficult phases, and his team for helping him throughout his professional journey.
The actor said he wanted the honor to represent not only his own achievement but also the spirit of those who continue to pursue their dreams despite obstacles.
“I would love to share my biggest honor with every Paralympian in the country and with everyone who dares to dream the impossible and never gives up,” he wrote.
Kartik also expressed gratitude to the National Film Awards jury, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and President Droupadi Murmu for the honour.
Concluding his note on an optimistic note, the actor said he believes the National Award marks only the beginning of many more milestones in his career.
