Skoda and Volkswagen are preparing to launch more products in India in the coming months. These will include both locally manufactured products and completely built unit (CBU) imports. The brands will likely bring more of their global products to the Indian market. Here is a list of Skoda and Volkswagen cars and SUVs to wait for.
The Virtus enjoys a strong foothold in the mid-size sedan segment. Despite its age, the sales of this sedan stays steady. Volkswagen is now working on a facelift to it. The updated Virtus will have significant cosmetic upgrades and feature additions. The platform will remain unchanged while a new 8-speed torque converter gearbox could be introduced in place of the previous 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Spy sightings have indicated that the new Virtus will have a redesigned front grille, new LED headlamps with updated LED DRLs and a connecting light bar, new illuminated logo and new wheels. The tail section may also be redesigned.
The two familiar engines will be retained. 1.0L turbocharged petrol (1.0 TSI) and 1.5L turbocharged petrol (1.5 TSI). These will make 115 PS and 178 Nm, and 150 PS and 250 Nm, respectively. The smaller engine will be available with a manual gearbox and a new eight-speed automatic. The 1.5L unit will only come with a seven-speed DSG.
The Kylaq has been a runaway success for Skoda and Volkswagen is planning to replicate the same with the same formula- a well-packaged, sharply priced, sub-four metre SUV. According to reports, it will draw its design inspiration from the Volkswagen Tera sold abroad. It will be positioned below the Taigun in Volkswagen’s India lineup and become its most affordable SUV.
It will be based on the same MQB A0 IN platform as the kylaq and will likely use the same engine- the 1.0L turbo-petrol offered with the choice of a manual and an 8-speed automatic transmission. This setup will make 115PS and 178Nm. The market launch is expected next year.
The performance-focussed Volkswagen Golf GTI witnessed strong demand in India. It launched here in May 2025 as a limited number CBU product. The first batch got sold out quickly and the carmaker is expected to launch the second batch sometime soon. The Golf GTI will continue to be powered by the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 268PS and will come with the same seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. It remains to be seen if Volkswagen will retain the current price for the second batch or increase it. Speculations suggest that the second batch could see the addition of more features.
The Slavia is Skoda’s version of the Virtus. Like the Volkswagen, the Slavia is also getting a facelift this year. Expected to launch on August 18th, it will bring a refreshed design, more features and the new 8-speed automatic transmission to the vehicle. The updated sedan will get a revised front grille, redesigned headlamps and connected LED DRLs, new wheels, and refreshed LED tail lamps. The cabin will get a better digital driver’s display.
On the mechanical front, the platform and engines will be kept the same as before. However, an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox will be offered with the 1.0-litre instead of the previous 6-speed automatic.
The Kylaq is set to get a sportier version soon. Called the Kylaq Sportline, it will arrive later this year and focus primarily on a sportier appearance. It will have more blacked-out exterior elements and a more aggressive look. The platform and engine will remain the same as before. The six-speed automatic transmission will likely be replaced with the new 8-speed torque converter automatic unit.
The Octavia RS was last introduced in India in 2025 as a limited-number CBU import. It received strong acceptance here. All 100 units from the first batch got sold out in no time. Now, the company is preparing to bring a second batch of the performance sedan.
It will be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 268PS and 370Nm. The transmission on offer will be a seven-speed DSG automatic unit. The second batch too will be limited in number
Skoda has plans to bring back the diesel engine to the Indian market. Two launches are expected in the near future- Superb 4×4 diesel and Kodiaq diesel. Both of them will be brought as limited-number CBU imports. On both vehicles, the 2.0-litre TDI turbo-diesel engine will come paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. They will also be equipped with all wheel drive system.
