Business Desk :- The series of meetings of 8th Pay Commission is continuing. The second round of meetings has been held in many places including Delhi, Chennai and Puducherry. Now the Commission will visit Bengaluru and Mumbai in October 2026. In the meetings to be held at both the places, talks will be held with other stakeholders including representatives of employee and pensioners organizations.
The Commission has also released the last date for applications to participate in the meetings and visits to be held in October. The application deadline for the Bengaluru meeting has ended, while for the Mumbai meeting, applications can be made till October 10, 2026.
Meeting will be held in Mumbai on 22 and 23 October
According to the Eighth Pay Commission, the meeting will be held in Mumbai on 22 October and 23 October 2026. Delegates willing to participate in this can apply with their Unique Memo ID by 10 October 2026.
Only those representatives or organizations will be able to attend the meeting, who have applied within the stipulated time limit. That means, those who have not applied will not get a chance to attend the Mumbai meeting.
Meeting on 7th and 8th October in Bengaluru
Before Mumbai, the Commission will be on a two-day visit to Bengaluru. The meeting will be held here on 7th October and 8th October 2026.
The last date of application to attend the Bengaluru meeting was 18 September 2026. This date has now passed. Therefore, the application process for the Bengaluru meeting has been completed.
According to the Commission, these meetings can be attended only by representative organizations and other stakeholders of those states or union territories where the Commission is visiting.
What will happen in the meetings?
Members of the Eighth Pay Commission are currently visiting different states and union territories as part of the second round of meetings. The objective of these visits is to understand the demands and suggestions of organizations associated with central employees and pensioners.
The members of the commission are talking to employee organizations and pensioners representatives. The Commission can take into consideration the suggestions and demands received in these meetings while preparing its report.
When will the 8th Pay Commission give its report?
The Eighth Pay Commission was established on 3 November 2025. The commission has been given a total of 18 months to prepare its report. It will have to submit its report to the government by April 2027.
It has also been said on behalf of the government that it is not necessary for the Commission to continuously give information about its every work to the government. The Commission is currently visiting different places and collecting suggestions from employees and pensioners.
Changes in salary and pension will be decided after the report.
The most important thing for central employees and pensioners is that the amount of increase in salary or pension has not been decided yet. The Commission will first study the demands and suggestions of the employees and pensioners and prepare its final report on the basis of this.
The government will take a decision regarding increase in the income of central employees and pensioners only after the report is presented before the government. Therefore, at present the announcement of any fixed salary hike or pension increase related to the 8th Pay Commission cannot be considered as a final decision.
