Said, there cannot be a bigger scam than this in this country
New Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday demanded that the entire process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists be canceled and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar be immediately arrested.
Citing a news of English daily 'Indian Express', Kejriwal claimed that Kumar is running the Election Commission at his own level, due to which the entire process of SIR being done across the country has become illegal. According to the news, during the exercise of updating the voter list, two election commissioners had objected to the steps of the Election Commission 14 times in 10 months.
Kejriwal said, Election Commission meetings are not being held for many months, while Gyanesh Kumar has been issuing orders at his level. Therefore, the entire SIR process, under which 13 crore names have been removed across the country, is illegal because the Election Commission has not officially approved it.
The AAP chief said, therefore today we demand that the entire SIR process be cancelled, all changes made under the SIR be canceled and the voter list of three years ago be restored.
He said Kumar should be arrested and a case of treason should be registered against him. Kejriwal claimed that according to the news of 'Indian Express', Kumar has been running the Election Commission on his own for the last few years.
He said, there cannot be a bigger scam than this in this country. If the entire voter list is being prepared from the Central Office of the Election Commission and is not being prepared by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or SDM, then the voter list of the entire country has definitely been tampered with.
