It is extremely hot in North India, while rain may occur in some states of North Eastern India. There are chances of rain in states like Sikkim and Arunachal also. Cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Lucknow are experiencing intense heat.

In North India, there will be no relief from fans alone. AC and cooler may be required. The days are becoming very hot, hot winds are also blowing. There is no hope of relief in the weather yet. The heat may increase further in the coming days. At the same time, the Meteorological Department is expecting some relief in the North-East.

In which states will there be heavy rain?

The Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the weather in North-East India may change rapidly. There is a possibility of isolated heavy rain with thunder and lightning in Sikkim. Similar heavy rains may occur in Arunachal Pradesh on April 15. Scattered heavy rain is expected in Assam, Meghalaya and Nagaland on April 18. Thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds at a speed of 30-50 kilometers per hour can also occur in these areas from April 14 to 18.

How will the weather be in Maharashtra and Odisha?

In the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature recorded in Akola, Maharashtra was 43.8 degrees Celsius. The temperature remained between 40 to 43 degrees at many places in Vidarbha, Marathwada and Odisha. Maximum temperatures are likely to rise by 4-5 degrees Celsius over northwest India in the next five days. The temperature in this area is going to be above normal.

Where will the heatwave go?

Heat wave is starting from this week in some parts of Central, Eastern, Western and Southern India. The weather will remain hot. Heat wave may occur in some areas of Telangana, Rayalaseema, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Jharkhand and Western Rajasthan.

How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR?

The weather will be clear in Delhi-NCR. The maximum temperature can reach 37 to 42 degrees, which will be higher than normal. Although there is no heat wave warning, it has been advised to be cautious of the heat.

How will the weather be in the hilly states?

There is also a possibility of light to moderate rain, snowfall, thunderstorm and isolated hailstorm with strong winds in the hilly areas of north-west like Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh from April 15 to 18. Light rain may also occur in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh on April 17-18.

What is the condition of other states of the country?

Light to moderate rain with thundershowers is expected in interior areas of Karnataka from April 14 to 16. There will be no significant change in the weather in the rest of the country. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea around Gujarat coast on April 14 and 15.

What is the Meteorological Department’s advice for the common people?

Farmers and common people are advised to avoid going out in the afternoon in heat wave areas, wear light clothes and irrigate the fields as per need. Take care of drainage in areas of heavy rainfall and keep crops in a safe place.
