Kanpur. The last date for application for cheap houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) has been fixed as April 17. Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) has released a total of 205 flats and some plots for sale. Maximum 139 flats are in Mahavir Nagar, while houses are also available in Bhagirathi-Janhavi, Sakrapur and Ramganga Enclave. After the government grant (₹2.50 lakh), beneficiaries will have to pay around ₹3.63 lakh to ₹5.06 lakh.
There is a provision for reservation for SC, OBC and general category in the scheme. The application process will be online through HDFC Bank, for which a registration fee of ₹ 5000 will have to be paid. The selection process will be done through lottery system. According to officials, this scheme is being run with the aim of providing affordable housing to the economically weaker and low income group people.
