American siege lifted from the Strait of Hormuz: Trump took a big U-turn, this ‘secret deal’ with China changed the course of the world
Amidst the sounds of war in the Middle East, a very big news is coming out. Taking a shocking decision, US President Donald Trump has announced the removal of the maritime blockade from the Strait of Hormuz. Just 48 hours ago, Trump had imposed a strict military siege on this strategic waterway, which has now been completely abolished. This decision of Trump has not only surprised the world, but it is also being seen as a big ‘U-turn’ on his part.
On Monday, April 13, America deployed about 10 thousand of its soldiers to block this important sea route. But now Trump has made it clear that this waterway will remain completely open for commercial ships of all countries.
Letter written to Xi Jinping and that ‘special’ agreement with China
The biggest reason for this sudden change is believed to be a diplomatic agreement with China. President Trump himself has confirmed on social media that he has talked to the Chinese government. According to Trump, China has assured that it will not supply any kind of weapons to Iran.
Trump said that he had written a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping on this issue, on which Beijing has agreed. Trump has expressed hope that Jinping will give him a warm welcome on his upcoming visit to China, because relations between the two leaders now seem to be improving significantly.
Why did America’s military blockade fail?
Not only diplomacy but also ground reality has been a major reason behind this decision of Trump. According to a report in ‘Wall Street General’, this American blockade had failed on the very first day. It is being told that despite the heavy deployment of American troops, about 20 ships managed to escape from Hormuz by dodging them. Most of these ships were from China. Stopping these ships was like inviting direct war for America, because China had already given a strict warning on this.
The pressure from Britain and France was also heavy
On this issue, Trump had to face opposition not only from China but also from his oldest friends i.e. Britain and France. France had said in strong words that countries fighting a war cannot bring the world economy to a standstill on their own will. These two European countries were preparing to form a separate international coalition to keep Hormuz open, bypassing America, due to which questions were being raised on America’s international credibility.
Eyes set on ‘peace talks’ to be held in Islamabad
Another strategic reason for lifting the blockade is being considered as the ‘Peace Deal Meeting’ to be held in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad this week. Trump did not want to let his position weaken before this high-profile meeting proposed between America and Iran. Experts believe that if the blockade had continued to fail, America would have lost the upper hand at the negotiating table. Now by removing the blockade, Trump has tried to create a positive environment for talks with Iran.
