Mamata Banerjee’s message on Bengali New Year: Appeals to protect brotherhood and democracy, targets opposition
Kolkata. On the occasion of Bengali New Year, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has appealed to the people of the state to strengthen unity, brotherhood and democratic values. While giving good wishes on the social media platform ‘X’, he said that this morning of the New Year should remove sorrow and suffering from everyone’s life and the feeling of peace and purity should increase in the society.
In his message, the Chief Minister appealed to the people to stand united against divisive and dictatorial tendencies. He said that on this auspicious occasion, everyone should take a pledge that they will move forward by breaking the walls of narrow thinking and division, so that peace and harmony are maintained in the state.
Mamata Banerjee also said that no force can harm the traditional unity, brotherhood and social harmony of Bengal. His message is also being linked to the upcoming election environment, where political activity is already intense.
In the end, he appealed to support Trinamool Congress candidates in the upcoming assembly elections and said that people should use their democratic rights to vote on the symbol of “Joda Phool”. He expressed confidence that the party candidates will register a big victory.
Ahead of the 2026 assembly elections in the state, political rhetoric has intensified between the ruling TMC and the opposition BJP, where on one hand TMC is talking about development and social schemes, while on the other hand BJP is raising issues of law and order and corruption.
