‘Women quickly recognize men who repeatedly seduce’ Priyanka Gandhi’s biggest taunt on Modi government in the House
New Delhi: Congress General Secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra targeted the Central Government while discussing the amendment bill related to women’s reservation in the Lok Sabha. He fully supported women’s reservation, but opposed linking it with delimitation. Priyanka said that the government is using this process as an excuse.
Taking a direct dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, “Women quickly recognize men who repeatedly seduce them. Any woman will tell you this.” This comment became very popular in the House.
Priyanka’s question on delimitation
Priyanka Gandhi said that there does not seem to be any problem in the superficial form of the bill, but the real issue is of delimitation. This is a question related to representation. He said that when the original bill was introduced in 2023, Congress had supported it. Even today there is no doubt about women’s reservation, but Congress opposes the new amendment.
He questioned the haste of the three bills. Priyanka said that the Prime Minister is nervous because the new census will reveal the correct figures of OBCs. Then reservation will have to be given in their proportion. Therefore, on the basis of 2011 census, the rights of OBC category are being snatched away.
Priyanka called democracy a threat
Priyanka warned that if this bill is passed with delimitation, it will be an open attack on democracy. He said, “Democracy will end in this country.” The depth of the bill reeks of politics, even if the PM says there is no political gain in it.
There was mention of a new census in the 2023 bill, but now that thing is missing. Priyanka asked, “Why so much haste? What is the PM worried about?” He also took a jibe at Amit Shah and said that if Chanakya had been there, he would have been embarrassed.
Concern expressed about OBC
Priyanka Gandhi stressed that the OBC class should get their rights. The PM said lightly that he would look into it later, but this issue is not a light one. Congress strongly opposes these three bills and will stand firm.
This debate took place in a special session of Parliament, where women’s reservation has been linked to the expansion of Lok Sabha seats. Priyanka’s speech has emerged as a strong voice of the opposition.
