13 New 4X4/AWD SUVs Launching Soon: MG Majestor To Tata Sierra.EV

The demand for SUVs with all-wheel-drive and dedicated 4X4 systems is increasing in India, and if you are someone who likes such SUVs, then you are in luck. In the coming months, there will be 13 new all-wheel-drive SUVs on sale in India. And here are the details of these SUVs.

At this year’s Independence Day event in August, Mahindra Automotive will be launching the Scorpio-N facelift in India. This SUV will boast an updated exterior design and a ton of new premium features. Like the current model, it will also be getting the same 4XPLOR 4X4 system as the current model.

It includes shift-on-the-fly 4WD with a low-range gearbox, 4XPLOR terrain modes including Snow, Sand, Mud, Normal, and a low-range transfer case. Pricing will be in the range of Rs 13.80 to Rs 24.80 lakh. The powertrain option with the 4X4 will be the 2.2-litre diesel, which makes 172 bhp and up to 400 Nm. Other highlights will include Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, a panoramic sunroof, and dual 10.25-inch screens.

At the same time, around the launch of the Scorpio-N in August 2026, Mahindra will also be launching the facelifted iteration of the Thar three-door. It will get a Thar ROXX-like front grille and alloy wheels.

As for the 4X4 system and powertrain, it will remain the same as the current model. These will be the 2.2-litre diesel (132 bhp) and 2.0 petrol (152 bhp). The 4X4 version of the Thar three-door facelift will be priced in the range of Rs 15 to 18 lakh.

Later this month, MG India will be finally launching the Majestor D+ segment SUV in India. Priced in the range of Rs 45 to 50 lakh, the ladder-frame Majestor will offer a dedicated 4X4 system.

It will consist of triple differential locks (front, rear, centre), 10 terrain modes, and crawl control (M-Crawl). Power will be generated by a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine making 215 bhp and 478 Nm of torque. It will also offer 810 mm water-wading capacity as well.

Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the electric version of its recently launched Sierra mid-size SUV next month. The upcoming Sierra.ev will be priced in the range of Rs 18 to 25 lakh. It has been reported that it will be offered with a dual-motor AWD setup.

Battery packs will range from 65 to 75 kWh, offering a range between 450 to 500+ km. Other notable highlights will include the same triple-screen dashboard, lounge seating, ADAS, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and others.

Following the EV version, Tata Motors will also be launching the ICE version of the Sierra with an AWD system in early 2027. This version will be based on the new ARGOS platform, which supports proper all-wheel-drive hardware. Pricing for the AWD variants is expected to be in the range of Rs 21 to 23 lakh.

Powertrain options will most likely include the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine making 160 PS and 255 Nm, and there could also be a diesel option on offer. The AWD system will get terrain response modes like Normal, Rough, and Snow. Other highlights will include 205 mm ground clearance, a triple-screen dashboard, lounge seating, and Level 2 ADAS.

During the festive season of 2026, Tata Motors will be launching the all-electric Safari.ev in India. This three-row SUV will also get a dual-motor AWD setup, giving it the capability to take on some challenging terrains. Pricing is expected to be in the range of Rs 28 to 32 lakh.

The Safari.ev is expected to offer 235 to 390 bhp and do a sprint of 0-100 kmph in under 7 seconds. Battery pack options will include 65 kWh and 75 kWh, with a claimed range of 500 to 600 km. It will also get multiple terrain modes, ADAS, a 360-degree camera, V2L and V2V features, along with a premium 7-seater cabin.

Tata Motors will also be launching its flagship Avinya electric SUV in India by late 2026 or early 2027. This model will be based on JLR’s new 800V EMA architecture and will come with a dual-motor AWD setup. Pricing is expected to be between Rs 40 to 60 lakh.

The AWD version will produce around 420 bhp and can do 0-100 kmph in under 6 seconds. It will get a large 95 kWh battery pack with over 500 km of range. Highlights will include a futuristic, minimalistic cabin, lounge seating, advanced ADAS, and ultra-fast charging capability.

Volkswagen is expected to introduce a more affordable non R-Line version of the Tayron in India sometime later in 2026. This variant will continue to offer the same 4MOTION AWD system as the current R-Line model. Pricing is expected to be in the range of Rs 42 to 44 lakh.

It will come powered by the same 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine making 204 PS and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a DSG gearbox. The AWD system will also get multiple driving modes, including Snow and Off-road. The non R-Line variant will focus more on comfort, with a softer suspension setup and less aggressive styling.

Skoda Kodiaq

Skoda is planning to bring back the diesel Kodiaq AWD in India by late 2026. This model will come as a CBU import and will be priced in the range of Rs 40 to 45 lakh. It will feature a Haldex-based AWD system.

Powering this SUV will be a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine making around 200 bhp and 400 Nm of torque, paired with a DSG gearbox. The AWD system will get off-road and snow modes. Other highlights will include a premium cabin, a large touchscreen, ADAS, and a 360-degree camera.

Skoda will also be launching the performance-focused Kodiaq RS in India by June 2026. This AWD SUV will be priced in the range of Rs 55 to 60 lakh. It will come powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine making 265 hp and 400 Nm of torque.

This performance SUV will be able to do a sprint of 0 to 100 kmph in just 6.3 seconds. The AWD system will be standard, and it will also get Dynamic Chassis Control with adaptive dampers. Other highlights will include sporty styling, an RS-specific interior, and premium features.

JSW Motors will be launching the Jetour T2 SUV in India by October 2026. This model will come with a plug-in hybrid AWD system and will be priced between Rs 35 to 45 lakh. The main highlight will be its 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine paired with dual electric motors, producing a combined output of around 381 hp and 610 Nm.

The AWD system will offer multiple terrain modes and intelligent torque distribution. It will also get 220 mm ground clearance and 700 mm water-wading capacity. The T2 will offer a claimed range of over 1000 km, combining petrol and electric power.

Toyota will be launching the next-generation Fortuner in India by late 2026 or early 2027. This new model will continue to offer a proper 4X4 system with a low-range gearbox. Pricing is expected to start from around Rs 35 lakh.

It will retain the 2.8-litre diesel engine, making up to 204 PS and 500 Nm of torque. The new model will also get updated off-road tech, terrain modes, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2 ADAS. The design and interior will also see a major overhaul.

next generation toyota hilux

Toyota is also expected to launch the next-generation Hilux lifestyle pickup in India between March and April 2026. This model will continue to offer a standard 4X4 system across variants. Pricing is expected to be in the range of Rs 35 to 45 lakh.

It will be powered by the same 2.8-litre diesel engine but with the addition of a 48V mild-hybrid system for improved efficiency. The 4X4 system will get multi-terrain select modes and improved off-road capability. Other highlights will include a new interior, larger screens, ADAS, and better overall refinement.
