After Trump, now French President calls PM Modi, discusses situation in West Asia and opening of Hormuz sea route

New Delhi, 16 April. Ahead of the second round of possible peace talks between the US and Iran amid tensions in West Asia, French President Emmanuel Macron spoke on phone with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday evening. Just two days ago, US President Donald Trump also talked with PM Modi about West Asia and the Sea of Hormuz.

Modi gave this information in a post on social media after a conversation with his friend Macron. He wrote on X, ‘A call came from my dear friend President Emmanuel Macron. We discussed the situation in West Asia and agreed on the need to quickly restore security and freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. We will continue our close cooperation to advance peace and stability in the region and beyond.

America has laid siege to Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz

It is noteworthy that after the failure of peace talks with Iran, America has blockaded Iran’s ports in the Strait of Hormuz, so that ships cannot enter these ports. America says that it has taken this step with the aim of opening the Strait of Hormuz to everyone.

It should be noted that after the joint attacks by America and Israel on Iran, Iran is obstructing the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, due to which the energy supply across the world has been affected.

Macron called for opening the Strait of Hormuz

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron had urged US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to resume talks and unconditionally open the Sea of Hormuz. Macron also spoke to these two leaders on phone and said that the stalled talks in Islamabad should be restarted, misunderstandings should be resolved and tension in the region should be prevented from increasing. He stressed that the ceasefire should also include the Israel-Lebanon conflict and that the Strait of Hormuz should be fully opened so that global navigation can normalize.
