‘Till 2029, all elections will be held using the old system’…Amit Shah’s big statement in Lok Sabha
Tezzbuzz Desk – Amid the ongoing debate in the Lok Sabha regarding women’s reservation and delimitation, Union Home Minister Amit Shah gave several important clarifications while answering the opposition’s questions. He said that all the elections to be held till 2029 will be held under the existing i.e. old system, hence there is no need for anyone to panic.
“The old system will remain in effect till 2029”
Amit Shah made it clear that the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission will not be implemented immediately. He said that no changes will be implemented unless Parliament approves it and the President gives his assent. He said, “Whatever elections will be held till 2029, they will all be held on the old seats and under the existing system”.
taunt on opposition
Taking a jibe at the opposition, especially Akhilesh Yadav, Shah said that they do not need to be afraid, although whether they will win or not is a different matter. He also said that some people are alleging that the government is bringing this bill to remain in power, but those saying so probably overestimate the power of the government.
Situation clear on caste census
The Home Minister also clarified the situation regarding caste census. He said that the Cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to conduct caste census and it will be included in the next census. He told that the census is done in two phases, first counting of houses and then information about the people living in them, in which caste related data will also be included.
clarification on delimitation commission
Amit Shah said that the government has not made any changes in the rules of the Delimitation Commission. Responding to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s allegations, he said that the same law which already exists is being implemented and there has been no tampering in it.
States will not suffer loss
The Home Minister also assured that women’s reservation and delimitation will not harm any state.
Giving examples, he said that the number of seats in states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu will not decrease but will increase.
In the end, Amit Shah said that confusion is being spread by the opposition on this entire issue, while the government is working with complete transparency.
