US-Iran talks gain momentum, Trump claims agreement is close
US-Iran War: Efforts have intensified regarding the second round of ongoing talks between America and Iran. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran has agreed to hand over its rich uranium reserves.
While talking to the media at the White House on Thursday (April 16), Trump said that after a long-running tension, a lot of progress has been made towards an agreement between the two countries. He also claimed that the negotiations have almost reached the final stage and now only formal consent is needed.
Talks moving towards agreement with Iran
According to him, Iran has agreed to many important conditions and now both sides just need to come forward and sign the agreement. Although Trump also indicated that if necessary, the deadline for talks can be extended, but he is hopeful that a solution will be found soon.
Meanwhile, Trump said in another announcement that an agreement has been reached between Israel and Lebanon on a ceasefire for 10 days. This decision has been taken with the aim of reducing the increasing tension in the area.
He said that this ceasefire will come into effect from 5 pm New York time. He has also instructed senior officials of his administration to work together towards permanent peace with both the countries.
