Noida violence: Pakistani connection revealed, wrong information spread through social media, 62 accused arrested
Workers did stone pelting and arson to increase salary
Noida. Gautam Budh Nagar Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh said Pakistan-run social media accounts were used to spread misinformation and incite unrest among workers in Noida. So far, 62 people have been arrested in connection with the widespread labor movement in Noida demanding increase in salaries.
The Police Commissioner said that technical analysis of two ‘X’ accounts revealed that they were being operated from Pakistan through VPN. He said, investigation into the matter is ongoing. According to the police, misleading posts were circulated through these accounts on April 13, which were aimed at affecting public peace and law and order.
These posts led to fear and anger among people in different parts of the district. The police commissioner said the mob then pelted stones, injuring several people, and indulged in arson and vandalism targeting vehicles, private property and public properties. The Police Commissioner said that the situation in the district has become normal since Wednesday and a flag march was conducted in the morning and patrolling is going on under sector-based security arrangements.
