Indian cars are making waves in foreign countries, these Indian cars made a new record
Budget Cars Demand: A major change is being seen in passenger vehicle exports from India in the financial year 2026. Now, instead of expensive vehicles, the demand for compact SUVs and small cars is increasing rapidly in the global market. Demand coming from regions like Africa, Latin America and South-East Asia has changed the strategy of Indian auto companies. Now companies are focusing more on cars which are cheap, consume less fuel and are easy for everyday use.
Maruti Suzuki leads in exports
According to reports, Maruti Suzuki currently remains at the forefront in terms of exports. The company has a strong range of budget and compact segments, which are being liked a lot in foreign markets. This trend is an indication that cars made in India are now making their mark not only in the country but across the world.
Fronx and Jimny shine
Maruti Suzuki Fronx has emerged as the most exported car in FY2026. A total of 90,186 units were sent abroad, which is 30.5% more than last year. Its stylish compact SUV design and city-specific features are making it a hit in the global market.
At the second position was Maruti Suzuki Jimny, whose 72,209 units were exported. A tremendous increase of 50.5% has been seen in its demand. Jimny is being liked all over the world as a small but powerful off-road SUV.
Strong performance of other cars too
Apart from SUVs, the performance of cars from other segments has also been excellent. Hyundai Verna stood at third position with 63,044 units. Whereas Nissan Magnite made it to the top 10 with 56,704 units and registered the highest growth of 94.5%.
Apart from this, small cars like Maruti Suzuki Swift, Baleno, Dzire and S Presso are also playing an important role in exports. The demand for Hyundai Grand i10 and Aura also remains constant.

Increasing demand for SUVs and small cars
The figures of FY2026 clearly show that now the auto industry is rapidly moving towards SUVs and compact cars. Customers want vehicles that are economical, consume less petrol and diesel and are easy to use on a daily basis.
India is becoming a global export hub
In the coming times, India’s role as a global auto export hub may become stronger. Companies are now designing their cars according to the needs of different countries and are also increasing production.
