Ukraine is acquiring American weapons under the PURL program, through which NATO member states can fund arms purchases for Kiev. Zelensky said that under this plan, Ukraine is able to purchase anti-ballistic missiles and other essential weapons for the Patriot missile system, which are very important for its security. He feared that rising tensions in the Middle East could divert resources from Ukraine’s defense needs. According to him, the war in the Middle East and the situation in Iran is a big challenge, due to which all these packages can be in danger. Zelensky said that America has so far provided these systems in very small numbers, due to lack of production capacity. He warned that if the war in the Middle East prolongs or the ceasefire is delayed, Ukraine’s security could be negatively affected.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is sharing its experience in the field of drone warfare with countries in the Middle East. After facing four years of drone attacks against Russia, Ukraine is now providing technical expertise and training missions. According to the President, agreements have been reached in this regard with Saudi Arabia, Qatar and United Arab Emirates. He said Ukraine will also continue to cooperate with other countries and provide its expertise and training.
