West Bengal Elections: Voting is taking place today for the first phase of West Bengal Assembly elections. There was a lot of violence at many places during the first phase of voting. An incident of stone pelting on the car of BJP candidate Agnimitra Paul from Asansol South seat came to light. It is being told that this incident of stone pelting took place in Rehmat Nagar area, in which the glass of the vehicle was broken. After this, Agnimitra Paul has lodged a complaint at Hirapur police station and the matter is being investigated.

At the same time, allegations are also being made continuously from TMC side. TMC alleges that the police is working in favor of BJP. Minister of State Shashi Panja said that some police officers posted in Nandigram are not working impartially. He said that a TMC delegation met Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Aggarwal and complained and demanded the removal of two police officers.
At the same time, there have also been complaints of EVM malfunctioning at many places. Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary, Congress candidate from Berhampur seat in Murshidabad, has also expressed his displeasure regarding this. He has also talked about this on phone. Talking to the election officer, he said that the EVM at booth number 141 was repeatedly breaking down, due to which the voters standing in the sun had to go back without casting their vote. He told that till now the machine has been changed four times, but the new EVM is also not working properly.
