Since lakhs and crores of passengers are traveling by railways every day, the revenue of railways is equally huge. Different trains such as Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express, Vande Bharat Train, Tejas Express run daily. But do you know which railway has earned the highest revenue in India?

Vande Bharat, Rajdhani or Shatabdi were believed to be the top grossing cars so far. However, this year’s statistics have revealed a different picture. According to the latest revenue report of the Indian Railways, a conventional express train has overtaken everyone to claim the first position. Ambedkar Nagar Express has bagged the top spot by earning the highest revenue. This train has earned a revenue of around Rs 40.56 crore in the financial year 2025-26. Increased popularity among travelers and good connectivity are considered to be the major reasons behind this success. Indian Railways

Khajuraho Udaipur City Express is in the second position, the revenue of this train is reported to be around Rs 39.98 crore. Prayagraj Express, which has been in the lead for a long time, has fallen to the third position this time, and its earnings have stopped at Rs 35.50 crore. The list also includes trains like Mumbai Duronto, Sampark Kranti and Vande Bharat Express.

According to experts, the main factor behind this is the change in passenger preferences. Passengers are now valuing convenient schedules, direct connectivity and availability rather than just depending on speed or brand. Therefore, some conventional express trains have also taken the lead by performing well. Indian Railways

Considering this changing situation, Indian Railways is also changing its strategy. In the future, the focus will be on developing faster, modern and passenger-centric services. This is likely to increase the revenue of the railways besides providing a better experience to the passengers.
