PM Modi strongly condemned the firing in America, violence has no place in democracy.
New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the firing incident that took place during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in America. Describing this incident as against democratic values, he said that violence cannot be supported in any form.
The Prime Minister, while reacting on the social media platform ‘X’ on Sunday, expressed relief over the security of US President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump and Vice President JD Vance. He said that after this incident that took place in a hotel in Washington DC, the news of all the top leaders being safe is reassuring.
Prime Minister Modi said that violence has no place in democracy and it should be condemned in the strongest terms. He called it a matter of concern for the global democratic system. It is noteworthy that the firing took place during a dinner program organized by the White House Correspondents Association in Washington on Saturday night. Several prominent personalities were present at the event, including Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel. After the incident, all the guests were evacuated safely and the attacker has been arrested. According to officials, the situation is now under control and security agencies are investigating the matter.
