Political tension in West Bengal, TMC MP Mithali’s car attacked in Hooghly

West Bengal Elections 2026: An incident of attack on the car of TMC MP Mithali Bagh has come to light in Hooghly district of West Bengal on Monday. The attack took place when she was on her way from Goghat to Arambag to attend Abhishek Banerjee’s road show. The windshield of his car was broken in the attack, while the MP and his driver sustained injuries.

Admitted to Medical College Hospital

After the incident, both of them were immediately admitted to Arambagh Medical College Hospital. Mithali Bagh, who was present in the hospital, became emotional and alleged that heavy stones were thrown at her car, due to which she had to somehow save her life.

TMC accused BJP supporters

TMC has blamed BJP supporters for this incident and claimed that the MP’s car was attacked with bricks, stones and sticks in Goghat. The party also said that such incidents are an attempt to influence the political environment.

Three people arrested in the case

Police took action in the case and arrested three people. They have been identified as Sintu Santra, Sanatan Santra and Rajkumar Roy. It is alleged that all of them are workers associated with BJP.

PM Modi shared his views

Meanwhile, it was the last day of campaigning for the second phase of elections in the state and the campaign for 142 seats ended. Various political parties campaigned for the final round at their respective levels. Mamata Banerjee ended her campaign with a road show in Bhawanipur, while the Prime Minister issued an open letter sharing his views towards the people of Bengal.

Central forces will be deployed for a long time

On the other hand, the Union Home Minister said in a public meeting that even after the elections, the deployment of central forces will continue for a long time, so that law and order is maintained. Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court rejected a petition filed in a case related to Bhawanipur seat, in which the candidature of a candidate was challenged.
