The weather changed amid the scorching heat, alert of storm and rain in many states including Delhi-NCR.
The weather of North India seems to be changing rapidly these days. On one hand, people were troubled by the scorching heat, on the other hand, the sudden dust storm and light rain have raised hopes of relief. This change in weather is being seen simultaneously in many states, due to which people are likely to get relief from the heat for some time. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi and surrounding areas.
The weather pattern changed in many parts of Delhi-NCR since Tuesday morning. There is a possibility of light rain, strong winds and thunder and lightning. According to the Meteorological Department, in the update released at around 6:40 in the morning, it was said that there may be rain in many areas during the next two hours. During this period, the wind speed is expected to be 30 to 40 kilometers per hour, due to which the temperature may drop.
Strong storm late night, rain in many areas
Earlier on Monday late night also, a dust storm occurred in many parts of Delhi and light rain was recorded. The weather changed suddenly with strong winds in areas like Najafgarh, Dwarka, Palam and IGI Airport. Similar weather was seen in Gurugram, Bahadurgarh and Manesar adjacent to Delhi. During this time, the wind speed reached 40 to 60 kilometers per hour, due to which people had to face sudden change in weather.
Alert in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan also
The Meteorological Department has also warned of bad weather in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan. There is a possibility of storm and rain in Shamli, Baghpat, Modinagar, Agra, Mathura and Aligarh of Uttar Pradesh. The weather may worsen with strong winds in areas like Kaithal, Assandh, Jhajjar and Palwal of Haryana. At the same time, danger of dust storm and lightning has been reported in Bhiwadi, Bharatpur and Dholpur of Rajasthan.
Orange alert in Uttarakhand, warning of heavy rain
The weather may be more severe in the hilly state of Uttarakhand. Orange alert has been issued here for 28th and 29th April. There is a possibility of heavy rain, hailstorm and strong winds in Nainital, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh. The wind speed in these areas can reach 40 to 50 kilometers per hour, due to which there is a possibility of life being affected.
Rain and snowfall in hilly states
There are signs of changing weather in Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh also. There may be light to moderate rain and snowfall at some places in Jammu and Kashmir between April 27 and 29. Similar weather is likely to prevail in Himachal Pradesh from 28th to 30th April. Apart from this, there has also been a warning of hailstorm in these states, which can cause trouble for crops and local people.
Impact in Punjab and North East also
A ‘thundersquall’ situation may occur in Punjab and Haryana on 28th and 29th April. Due to this, sudden strong winds and rain may be seen. In the states of North-East India, such as Sikkim and West Bengal, there is a possibility of heavy rain and lightning throughout the week. Due to this, the people there have been advised to be cautious.
