Crisis on Asaram’s interim bail, important hearing tomorrow in High Court
The six-month interim bail period of self-styled godman Asaram, who is serving life imprisonment in a sexual assault case, is ending on April 29, 2026. In such a situation, to avoid returning to jail, a petition has once again been filed on his behalf in the Rajasthan High Court to extend the bail period. The hearing tomorrow in this matter is considered very important.
If the court does not extend the bail period, Asaram will have to surrender back to Jodhpur Central Jail. His legal team has cited medical reasons in the application and said that 86-year-old Asaram is suffering from serious diseases and his treatment is going on, hence he should be given relief.
Relief for first 6 months was given on medical grounds
Asaram got interim bail of 6 months from Rajasthan High Court on 29 October 2025. The court had granted temporary relief for treatment keeping in mind his age, prostate cancer and other health problems at that time. Even before this, arguments on health grounds were presented several times in his case.
However, during this period, on October 7, 2025, due to technical reasons, he could not get temporary relief and he was sent back from the hospital to Jodhpur Central Jail. Now once again his bail period is about to end, due to which his legal situation has once again reached a critical point.
Eyes fixed on tomorrow’s hearing, waiting for the final decision
The hearing of Asaram’s main case has already been completed in the High Court and the final decision can come any time. In such a situation, tomorrow’s hearing is not being considered limited only to the extension of bail, rather it will decide the immediate situation of his staying in jail or staying out.
If the court refuses to extend the interim bail, they may have to return to jail immediately. On getting relief, they may get some more time for treatment. For this reason this hearing is being considered very important for them.
