‘If I go to BJP, people will blacken my face’, Sanjay Singh’s tough attitude in Lucknow

Veteran Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh is seen in his old style these days. Once again creating a stir in the politics of Uttar Pradesh, he has made the sharpest attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) so far. While addressing the workers at the party office in the capital Lucknow, Sanjay Singh said in a clear tone that he will not compromise on his ideology till his death. Putting an end to the discussions of defection, he even said that the day he thinks of joining BJP, the public will blacken his face.

Actually, Sanjay Singh was face to face with the media and workers in Lucknow. During this period, his target was the present government of Center and Uttar Pradesh. He attacked BJP on corruption issues and called it a ‘washing machine’. This statement of Sanjay Singh has come at a time when many big faces of the opposition parties are changing sides and moving towards the ruling party. In this context, he emotionally said that any stain can be washed off by going into BJP’s washing machine, but he will never follow that path.

‘Washing Machine’ sarcasm and appeal for honesty

In his address, Sanjay Singh prominently raised the issue of allegations of corruption and misuse of investigating agencies. He said that in today’s times, BJP has become such a machine in which opposition leaders enter from one side as ‘tainted’ and come out from the other side as ‘clean’. Inspiring enthusiasm among the workers, he said, “No one can put a price on my principles and struggle. I want to make it clear that Sanjay Singh is not for sale. If ever my steps waver and I look towards BJP, then the people of Lucknow and my supporters have every right to blacken my face.”

Actually, Sanjay Singh is trying to strengthen the ground of Aam Aadmi Party in Uttar Pradesh. He is constantly raising issues which are directly related to the common man’s pocket and his everyday life. In this sequence, he laid siege to the state government regarding electricity, water and inflation.

It is not a ‘smart meter’ it is a ‘cheater meter’: Sanjay Singh

Sanjay Singh has given a new twist to the growing dissatisfaction among the public regarding rising electricity bills and smart meters in UP. He directly termed smart meters as ‘cheater meters’. Sanjay Singh alleges that the public’s hard earned money is being looted through these meters. He said that the meters run so fast that the budget of the common man has been spoiled.

Referring to technical glitches and overbilling, Sanjay Singh said that he is continuously receiving complaints from the local people. He warned the government and said that cheating the public in the name of technology should now stop. The public is being made a pawn for the corruption of the electricity department and the profits of private companies, which the Aam Aadmi Party will not tolerate at all.

Big movement announced in UP from May 3

Not limited to just statements, Sanjay Singh has now prepared a strategy to take to the streets. He has officially announced that a big mass movement will be launched across Uttar Pradesh from May 3 against smart meters and increased electricity prices. It is being told that under this movement, district wise demonstrations will be held and the voice of the public will be conveyed to the government.

Sanjay Singh has instructed the workers to go door to door to make people aware about the rigging in electricity bills. Political experts believe that this move of Sanjay Singh can become a big means for ‘AAP’ to regain the lost political ground in UP. Especially after the success of the free electricity model in Delhi, making electricity an issue in UP could prove to be a headache for the BJP.

In the end, this tough stance of Sanjay Singh has made it clear that he will not make it easy for the government in the politics of Uttar Pradesh in the coming days. With the statement of ‘blackening his face’, he has not only tried to prove his loyalty but has also sounded the trumpet of a long fight against BJP.
