The highest ever turnout of 92.47 percent took place in the West Bengal Assembly Elections-2026.
Earlier, the highest turnout was 84.72 percent during the 2011 assembly elections.
Kolkata. The two-phase elections for the West Bengal Assembly held on Wednesday saw the highest turnout of 92.47 percent since independence. The Election Commission gave this information.
The Commission said that 91.66 percent voting was recorded till 7.45 pm in the second and final phase on Wednesday, while 93.19 percent voting was recorded in the first phase.
The Election Commission said that the previous highest turnout in the state was 84.72 percent during the 2011 assembly elections.
According to this, the number of women voting in this election was more than men. A total of 93.24 percent female voters exercised their franchise in the two phases while the male voting percentage was 91.74 percent. The commission said these figures are provisional and do not include service voters and postal ballots.
