NDTV Reports Tenth Consecutive Quarterly Loss Despite Revenue Growth and Channel Expansion Push – Obnews

New Delhi Television Limited has reported its tenth straight quarterly loss as rising operating costs continued to outweigh gains in revenue, highlighting ongoing financial pressure across India’s television news sector.

For the quarter ending March 31, the broadcaster posted a net loss of 978.4 million rupees, widening significantly from the 608.8 million rupee loss recorded during the same period last year. The company said expenses rose sharply, increasing by nearly 30 percent due to higher spending on operations, production, and marketing.

Despite the loss, NDTV reported a 16.4 percent increase in consolidated revenue to 1.48 billion rupees. However, analysts note that advertising demand across the broadcasting industry remains weak as businesses scale back marketing budgets amid broader economic uncertainty and pricing pressures.

NDTV, in which Adani Group holds a majority stake, has been investing heavily in new channels and expanding its programming portfolio. Recent launches such as NDTV World and NDTV Marathi are part of the network’s strategy to strengthen its reach, though they have also contributed to higher production and operating costs.

Industry competitors are facing similar headwinds. Rival broadcaster Network18 Mediabacked by Reliance Industriesalso reported a quarterly loss, while other major networks including TV Today Network and Zee Media Corporation are expected to release their financial results soon as the sector continues adjusting to shifting advertising trends and audience behaviour.
