West Bengal Elections: Voting will be held again tomorrow at 15 polling stations, Election Commission ordered
Kolkata. The Election Commission on Friday ordered re-polling on May 2 after complaints of electoral irregularities at 15 polling stations (booths) in two assembly constituencies of South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. According to the order of the Election Commission, re-polling has been ordered at 11 polling stations in Magrahat West and four polling stations in Diamond Harbour.
According to the order, re-polling will take place between 7 am and 6 pm. Voting was held in Magrahat West and Darmond Harbor on April 29 as part of the second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections. According to the order, the repoll was ordered on the basis of reports received from returning officers and observers of both the assembly constituencies and keeping in mind the “physical circumstances”.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had alleged large-scale electoral malpractices at some polling stations in both the assembly seats of the Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha constituency, represented by Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. The Election Commission had appointed its special observer Subrata Gupta to investigate the allegations.
