Greater Noida, May 1. Commercial flights will start operating from Noida International Airport after one and a half months i.e. from June 15. Announcing this on Friday, airport officials said that this will give a big boost to air connectivity in Northern India. He confirmed that the airport will start handling passengers, airlines and cargo, further strengthening its role as a major hub for the National Capital Region (NCR).
Officials also said that the first flight from Noida International Airport on June 15 will be of private airline IndiGo. Other airlines like Akasa Air and Air India Express are also expected to join the bandwagon soon. The detailed schedule of flights, destinations and additional services for passengers will be announced in due course.

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated Noida International Airport on March 28. After this, there were speculations that domestic and cargo services would start from here soon. After getting Airport Security Program (ASP) approval from the Civil Aviation Security Bureau, Yamuna International Airport has now announced operation of flights from June 15.
This airport will reduce traffic in Delhi and boost regional connectivity.
If seen, Noida International Airport (IATA code: DXN) will reduce Delhi’s traffic and boost regional connectivity. It will connect the Greater Delhi region and Western Uttar Pradesh with major destinations in the country and abroad. The facility currently consists of one runway and one passenger terminal, with an annual capacity of 12 million passengers.

Airport officials said that the Noida International Airport, developed to meet the growing demand for air travel, will feature modern terminal infrastructure, efficient operations and strong multimodal connectivity. He further said that it has been designed in such a way that it provides a seamless experience to the passengers, while also enabling the airlines to operate in a cost-effective and reliable manner.
Noida International Airport, under construction in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, is actually a ‘greenfield project’. It is one of the country’s major infrastructure initiatives aimed at promoting regional connectivity and economic growth. Once fully operational, it is expected to ease congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport and emerge as a major air hub for the National Capital Region.
It is being developed under PPP model at an estimated cost of Rs 11,200 crore.
