West Bengal Elections: Re-polling process at 15 polling stations

Re-polling in West Bengal elections

West Bengal Elections: The Election Commission has decided to conduct re-polling at 15 polling stations in Diamond Harbor and Magra Hat West in South 24 Parganas district. The Commission has issued instructions in this regard. The voting process will start on May 2 at 7 am. These polling centers include four centers of 143-Diamond Harbor AC and 11 centers of 142-Magrahat West AC, where re-voting will be held on Saturday. The Election Commission has taken this decision on the basis of complaints received.

It is noteworthy that this time the voting record has been broken in the West Bengal Assembly elections. Of the 294 assembly seats in the state, voting was held in 152 seats in the first phase, while the second phase of voting took place on April 29. The election results will be declared on May 4. There was heavy voting in the state in both the phases, with 93.19 percent voting recorded in the first phase and 92.67 percent voting in the second phase. Thus, the overall voting average in Bengal was more than 92.93 percent, which is a new record for any state in the country.

Apart from this, security arrangements have been strengthened in Bengal ahead of the results on May 4. State Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Agarwal said on Friday that there was no possibility of any irregularities at the counting centers as the strong rooms were under 24-hour CCTV surveillance.
