Big gift to NCR: Noida airport operational from June 15, Indigo flight will take off for the first time
Noida Airport: A new chapter of air connectivity between Delhi-NCR and North India is going to start. Noida International Airport (NIA) has announced that regular commercial flight services will start from June 15, 2026. The first commercial flight from this airport will be operated by IndiGo, after which Akasa Air and Air India Express will also start their services.
Recently the airport has received Aerodrome Security Program (ASP) approval from Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). This certification indicates that the airport’s security systems and operating procedures are in line with international standards.
Initial potential and future plans
In the initial phase this airport will be able to handle approximately 1.2 crore passengers every year. Going forward, there is a plan to develop it in a phased manner and increase its capacity to 7 crore passengers. The special thing is that the airport has been developed with an environment-friendly design and is being built keeping in mind the goal of net-zero emissions.
Project development and partnerships
This ambitious project is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG. This project is being implemented under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Central Government.
Modern facilities and regional development
Located in Jewar, this airport will be equipped with state-of-the-art terminal facilities and better multimodal connectivity. With its coming into operation, the pressure on the existing air traffic of Delhi-NCR will be reduced and passengers will get more options. According to experts, this airport will give impetus to economic activities in Western Uttar Pradesh, as well as create new opportunities for tourism, trade and investment, which will give a new direction to the development of the entire region.
