The culprits of Bargi Cruise accident will not be spared, high level committee will investigate: Mohan Yadav

Bhopal. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav expressed deep condolence over the cruise accident that took place at Bargi in Jabalpur district, calling it unfortunate and extremely painful.

He said that the state government is with every victim’s family in this difficult time. Those guilty of the accident will not be spared under any circumstances. The government is committed to providing all possible assistance to the affected families.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that strict action has been taken against the culprits who were negligent in the accident. The services of cruise pilot Mahesh Patel, helper Chhotalal Gond and ticket counter in-charge Brijendra have been terminated with immediate effect.

Hotel Maikal Resort and Manager Boat Club Bargi Sunil Maravi has been suspended for negligence. Also, Regional Manager Sanjay Malhotra has been attached to the headquarters and a departmental inquiry has been instituted.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said these things while addressing the local media after visiting the spot of incident in Bargi, Jabalpur on Friday and meeting the families of the victims.

He said with a distressed heart that it is not possible to compensate the families who have lost their loved ones. The families of the victims should never consider themselves alone in difficult times. Assistance is being given by the government. The government administration and local public representatives are with them in this hour of grief.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that a high level investigation committee is being formed to thoroughly investigate every aspect of the accident. Director General Home Guard and Civil Defense, Secretary Madhya Pradesh Government, Commissioner Jabalpur Division have been included in the committee.

This committee will closely investigate the accident at three points, in which the cause of the accident, rules of cruise operation and other important information will also be collected.

After investigation, strictest action will be taken against the culprits, so that recurrence of such tragic incidents can be prevented in future.

The Chief Minister said that to prevent such accidents, SOP related to cruise operations will be prepared through the Tourism Department.

State government will honor all the brave men of the rescue team
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav announced a prize money of Rs 51,000 each as an incentive to the workers engaged in relief and rescue work. He said that the state government will publicly honor all the brave men of the rescue team.

Due to the vitality and hard work of the rescue team, more and more people could be saved alive. He said that the rescue operation is not over yet. The cruise boat has been pulled to the shore.

Some people are still missing, who are being searched rapidly through all possible means. Everyone will be rescued soon. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav reached the residence of the families of the victims of the cruise accident and expressed his condolences.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav told about the accident that 9 people died untimely in the tragic accident that took place at Bargi Dam in Jabalpur on Thursday evening. The rescue team acted promptly and saved 28 people safely.

He said that the entire state is shocked by the accident. During the cruise accident, Jal Jeevan Mission work was going on near the dam, due to which relief and rescue operations could start immediately.

As soon as the information was received, Public Works Minister Rakesh Singh, Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent Charge) Dharmendra Singh Lodhi and Jabalpur MP Ashish Dubey immediately reached the spot.

Also, NDRF, SDRF and district administration officials immediately started relief and rescue operations here. Deputy Chief Minister and Jabalpur district in-charge Jagdish Deora is also continuously monitoring the situation. The help of Indian Army divers has also been taken in the rescue operation.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the victim Riyaz, who was trapped in water during the cruise for 4 to 5 hours, was rescued safely by the rescue team. The victim Riyaz probably did not expect that he would be able to survive, but due to the tireless work of the rescue team, he is with us today.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that he met the victim Riyaz and other victims and the families of the deceased and consoled them. The Chief Minister said that the state government is with all the families in this difficult period. Our condolences are with everyone.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the next of kin of those who lost their lives in the cruise accident and the state government has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav while appealing to the citizens of the state said that we all should implement the information and warnings given from time to time by the Meteorological Department with full seriousness.

Warnings from the Meteorological Department alert us and protect us from such accidents. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav praised the cooperation of all the rescue team personnel, local public representatives, local people and media persons who worked day and night in the cruise accident.

It is noteworthy that a cruise of the Tourism Department sank due to a sudden strong storm at around 5 pm on Thursday evening in Bargi Dam located in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

During the relief and rescue operations that continued till Friday evening, bodies of nine people have been recovered, while 28 people have been rescued.

Four people, including three children, are missing, who could not be traced till the time of writing. During the rescue, it started raining heavily. After this the searching has been stopped. Searching will be done once again from 5 am on Saturday.

It is being told that more than 45 tourists were present in the cruise at the time of the accident. Tickets were issued for only 29 people. The accident happened about 300 meters away from the shore, at the time the cruise sank, the wind speed was 74 kilometers per hour.

According to Bargi City CSP Anjul Mishra, SDRF rescued many people, but darkness and bad weather affected the relief work. Marina Massey and her four-year-old son Trishaan also died in the accident.

The rescue team found the bodies of both on Friday. The mother had collected a piece of her heart inside her own life jacket. She held the child so tightly to her chest that even the cruel gust of time could not separate them.

When the rescue team took them out, their bodies were found holding each other in their arms. This family had come to visit from Delhi. Father Pradeep Massey and daughter Siya somehow managed to save their lives.

According to Bargi City CSP Anjul Mishra, the nine people whose bodies were found in the accident include one child and eight women.

The deceased have been identified as Neetu Soni (43), resident of Kotwali, Jabalpur, Saubhagyam Alagan (42), resident of Annanagar, West Tarapuram, Tamil Nadu, Madhur Massey (62), resident of Khajan Basti, New Delhi, Kakulazhi (38), wife Kamaraj, resident of West Land Khamaria, Jabalpur, Reshma Syed (66).

Shamim Naqvi (68), resident of Civil Line, Bhasin Arcade, Near Jackson Hotel, Shamim Naqvi (68), resident of Derkhi, Bhopal, Marina Massey (39) wife Pradeep Massey, resident of Delhi, Trishan (4 years), son Pradeep Massey, resident of Delhi and Jyoti Sen, resident of Futatal, Next to Ghamapur, Jabalpur.

At the same time, 4 people including three children are still missing, these include Sritamil (5 years) son of Kamaraj, Kamaraj son of Sriramalingam, Viraj Soni (6 years) son of Krishna Soni and Mayuram (9 years) son of Parimal.
